A winter storm is set to impact the area on Friday, with deteriorating conditions expected between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Motorists are strongly advised to complete any travel well before noon, as roads are likely to become icy and congested.
For Tega Cay, snowfall accumulation is estimated at 0.4 inches, but the primary concern is sleet and freezing rain. This wintry mix will persist into Friday night, creating extremely hazardous travel conditions.
Temperatures will remain below freezing throughout the event, causing anything that falls to stick immediately due to the cold ground.
By Saturday, the storm system will clear out, but a cold northwest wind will keep temperatures low. Icy patches are expected to linger, especially into Saturday night, so residents should exercise extreme caution on the roads.
