Richard James Poleto, aged 70, passed away suddenly on October 24, 2024, in Tega Cay, South Carolina. Born on May 31, 1954, Richard led a life marked by his humor, kindness, intelligence and a loving nature that endeared him to all who knew him.
Richard attended Heatly High School and Hudson Valley Community College and dedicated 35 years of his career to The Mayor’s Office of the City of New York, followed by running a small business in Las Vegas. Beyond his professional achievements, he was passionate about his family, especially his two granddaughters, golfing with friends, traveling, music and savoring fine red wines from Napa, California, which reflected his zest for life and the joys it offered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Poleto; son, Nicholas Poleto; daughter-in-law, Lauren Poleto; granddaughters, Stella and Caroline Poleto; siblings, Barbara Whalen, Jean Poleto, and Donald Poleto. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Dorothy Poleto.
In accordance with his wishes, no memorial services will be held. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Richard’s honor to Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, NC or the American Heart Association in his memory.
