Frothy Beard Brewing: A Brief Stint in South End’s Gold District
Frothy Beard Brewing’s Charlotte location is set to close on July 28, marking the end of its less-than-year-long journey at 1200 S. Graham St. This location has proven to be particularly tumultuous for breweries, with Frothy Beard becoming the fourth casualty following Bhramari Brewing Co., The Salty Parrot, and Sunstead Brewing. The rapid turnover at this address points to underlying challenges in maintaining a sustainable brewery operation in this part of the city.
A Troubling Trend
The closure of these two breweries is part of a larger trend affecting Charlotte’s craft beer industry. Rising costs, increased competition, and changing consumer preferences are all contributing factors. The economic pressures on small businesses, especially in the food and beverage sector, have been exacerbated by external factors such as supply chain disruptions and inflation.
