Fort Mill Acquires Historic Springs Buildings For New Town Hall

The Town of Fort Mill has made a significant move towards revitalizing its downtown area with the acquisition of two historic buildings. Situated at 123 and 205 North White Street, these structures were once home to the Springs Executive Office and the Springs Research and Development Center.

The former Executive Office, located at 205 N. White St., stands adjacent to the Town’s Amphitheater and Walter Y. Elisha Park. Erected in 1950, this building will soon house various town departments including council chambers, town administration staff, the police department and the municipal court.

Meanwhile, the former Research and Development Center, constructed in 1971, is presently leased by Pike Incorporated.

The anticipated closing on the purchase is slated for late May 2024. Following the acquisition, the Town plans to undertake extensive maintenance, upgrades, and renovations to the structures, with the goal of relocating staff by late 2024. Subsequently, both the current Town Hall Building and the current Police Department facilities are set to be placed on the market for sale. Stay tuned for further developments on this transformative endeavor in Fort Mill.
