Carol S. Richtarsic, 80, Tega Cay

Carol Richtarsic Obituary

Carol Richtarsic was born to Joseph and Helen Richtarsic on 11-1-43 in Greentree PA. She earned a BA and an MSW with a specialty in geriatrics. During her career she worked in Child Protective Service, but the majority or her work at various agencies focused on elderly people in their homes and in hospital settings.

In 1987 she moved to Frankfurt, Germany as a civilian Social Worker for the Army, where she served many different roles. During that time, she traveled widely in Europe, with trips also to Africa and Tunisia. This sparked her love of travel which she continued to do for the rest of her life.

In 1989 she returned to the United States and moved to Wadesboro, NC. Her work in Home Care inspired her to establish a Home Care Agency. She ran that agency for many years, developing close relationships with her employee caregivers as well as patients and families. She was much loved in the Anson County area for her contributions to that community. Her outgoing personality and compassion served her well.

Carol loved golf, reading, horses, her dogs and the outdoors. Her cottage in Hatteras NC was her favorite place, especially when it involved visits by extended family and friends.

She left behind her long term close friend Peggy Lee, her sister, Gertrude Kennedy, 7 neices and nephews, 11 greats neices and nephews and 10 great- great neices and nephews. She has been, in effect, the matriarch for them, involved with most from cradle to the present. Carol died of cancer in her SC home on February 12th, after many visits and much support from that family. She will be severely missed.
