Tega Cay Lions Club Announces Scholarships for Fort Mill Graduates

Tega Cay, SC – The Tega Cay Lions Club and its charitable non-profit organization, the Tega Cay Lions Foundation, are proud to announce the availability of two significant scholarships for the 2024 academic year: the Ron Kazel Scholarship and the Bobby Cullen Jr. Scholarship. These scholarships are dedicated to supporting the educational aspirations of graduating high school seniors within the Fort Mill School District or students in equivalent educational programs residing in the 29708-zip code.

The Ron Kazel Scholarship Fund, established in 2008, and the Bobby Cullen Jr. Scholarship, initiated in 2014, aim to provide financial assistance to students who demonstrate economic need or are physically disabled. The Ron Kazel Scholarship will award a one-time scholarship of $2,500, while the Bobby Cullen Jr. Scholarship will offer $2,000 to the chosen recipients. These awards are intended for use at an accredited institution to further the recipients’ education.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must be graduates of the Fort Mill School District or enrolled in an equivalent educational program. Eligibility is contingent upon not having accepted any scholarship covering 50% or more of total tuition costs to any university, college, community college, technical college, or military academy. Additionally, applicants must provide proof of residency within the 29708-zip code, meet a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5, and have applied for admission to a post-secondary institution.

Selection Process:

A selection committee, comprising two Tega Cay Lions Club members and three non-members, will review applications. Finalists will be chosen for a personal interview, with recipients selected based on a scoring system that evaluates both their application and interview. The process ensures the confidentiality of all personal information.

Application Information:

Interested students are invited to apply by completing the application form available on the Tega Cay Lions website and sending it via mail by the March 15 deadline. The application process is detailed on the Tega Cay Lions website at https://tegacaylions.wixsite.com/tegacaylions

The event celebrates the achievements of these young individuals, who will also be acknowledged by their schools and on Tega Cay Lions’ social media platforms.

The Tega Cay Lions Club and Foundation are committed to fostering educational opportunities within their community. By providing these scholarships, they hope to ease the financial burden on deserving students, enabling them to pursue their academic goals and contribute to society’s betterment.
