Constance Elizabeth Garbett Sixbey, age 84, of Tega Cay, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2023, at The Wellmore in Tega Cay.
Born in Roanoke, VA, She was the daughter of the late Vernon H. and Helen Huffman Garbett. She was a teacher’s assistant and worked in special education.
Mrs. Sixbey was the widow of the late Thomas Guilford Sixbey. Surviving are her children, Stephen (Christina) Sixbey of Dinwiddie, VA, Mark (Stephanie) Sixbey of Rock Hill, SC and Brian (Shannon) Sixbey of Hampton, VA; 11 grandchildren, Stephen Sixbey II, Adam Sixbey, Austin Sixbey, Amanda Sixbey, Savannah Sixbey, Brandon Sixbey, Kyle Muscato, Emily Sixbey, Evan Sixbey, Caedmon Sixbey and Catriona Sixbey; two niece’s, Lisa (Michael) Balkom and Alice Cook; and a nephew, Carl (Kayl) Cook.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
