Dawn Klena Clinches Victory at Tega Cay Women’s Golf Club Championship

Tega Cay, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – The Tega Cay Women’s Golf Club Championships held this week concluded with an outstanding performance by Dawn Klena, who secured the coveted title of Women’s Club Champion. The tournament, which took place on October 17-18, 2023, showcased exceptional skill and sportsmanship on the lush greens of Tega Cay Golf Club.

Dawn Klena, a dedicated and talented golfer, triumphed in the tournament by showcasing her prowess on both days. Her impressive two-day total score of 175 (90 on the first day and 85 on the second day) solidified her place as the overall champion.

Klena’s exceptional performance not only earned her the prestigious championship title but also awarded her the honor of securing a reserved parking spot for the entire year at Tega Cay Golf Club. This esteemed privilege is a testament to her dedication to the sport and her remarkable victory in the Women’s Club Championships.

Kathy Baker, another formidable contender in the tournament, finished in second place, demonstrating her impressive golfing skills and determination throughout the competition.

In addition to the overall championship, the tournament also featured a Low Net Championship category. Bev Taylor emerged as the winner in this category with an outstanding two-day total of 157. Bev’s net scores were an impressive 76 on the first day and 81 on the second day.

The Tega Cay Women’s Golf Club Championships brought together a community of passionate golfers who showcased their talents, camaraderie, and competitive spirit. The event was a resounding success and a testament to the vibrant golfing culture in Tega Cay.

For ladies in the area looking to join an 18-hole golf league, the Tega Cay Women’s Golf Association (TCWGA) is always open to new players.  Our league accepts handicaps of 40 or less and our by-laws state we play by USGA rules. We are fun, friendly and competitive having 5 or 6 tournaments a year to win prizes either individually or as a team. Tee times start at 8:30 on Tuesday and pairings are made in advance by Monday.  We use Golf genius for scoring and the GHIN system for handicaps.  Anyone seeking more information may contact:

Being a member of our league also provides the opportunity to play in Carolinas Golf Association (CGA) events and Central Carolinas Women’s Golf Association (WSCGA), which is a multi-club interclub here in the Charlotte area.
