Tega Cay Sun – This Wednesday the Blue Moon will be the biggest and brightest moon of the year.
On Wednesday night, Aug. 30th, the Blue Moon will ascend in the eastern sky shortly after the sun sets. Given its luminosity, spotting it won’t be a challenge as it’s set to be the year’s most radiant and expansive moon. This specific moon is unique because, aside from being a full moon, it’s also classified as a Blue Moon, indicating it’s the third full moon in a season of four, according to NASA.
Additionally, this Blue Moon is termed a supermoon as it aligns with the moon’s perigee – its closest point to Earth in its orbit. This means it will appear larger to observers.
