David Michael Burton (Mick), 83, Tega Cay, SC

Tega Cay, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – David Michael Burton (Mick), 83, was born in Charleston, South Carolina.  At a young age, he and his mother relocated to Jacksonville, North Carolina.  After finishing business school, he gained employment with the FBI and relocated to the Washington, DC metropolitan area.  Soon after, he met his future wife, Joan.  They married and settled in the area and he eventually worked for various Federal Government agencies as a Budget Analyst.  Mick and Joan raised three children in the DC suburbs and Mick eventually retired after 34 years of government service.  Mick and Joan spent their retirement years in Tega Cay, South Carolina, where Mick enjoyed fishing off his boat on Lake Wylie.

On 19 August, 2023, Mick found his peace and joined his wife of 58 years, Joan.  He is predeceased by his parents Bruce and Bea Burton and his younger brother, Buzz.  He is survived by this three children, Michael, David, and Dawn.  He is also survived by his brother John.

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
