Tega Cay Golf Club Men’s Club Championships 2023: A Thrilling Display of Skill Over a Scorching Weekend

Tega Cay, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – The Tega Cay Golf Club was abuzz with excitement and sizzling heat as it hosted the Men’s Club Championships on August 12th and 13th, 2023.  Seventy Nine (79) participants battled not only their rivals but also the sweltering temperatures and extremely fast greens. The competition was fierce, with close scores across different categories.

Here are the highlights and results of the 2023 Men’s Club Championships.

Championship Results

In a thrilling showdown, the Championship category was marked by impressive skills and intense competition. Connor Coldwater and John Van Vranken both finished with a Gross score of 145, but Coldwater took home the 1st place prize in a three hole playoff.  A close battle for the third position saw Doug Champagne and Griffin Tarver end in a tie with Gross 147.

Senior Championship

The Senior Championship proved to be a competitive segment of the tournament, with Kenny Hall claiming victory with a Gross score of 150. Jason Taylor followed with Gross 159, marking a strong performance in the division.

  • 3rd – Gross 166 – Ryan Ratcliffe

Super Senior Championship

The Super Senior Championship was a riveting contest, with Chuck Kelker leading the pack with a Gross score of 156. Gary Anderson and Peter Martin rounded out the podium with impressive performances, cementing their places among the seasoned veterans.

Open Flight Championships

The Open Flight Championships were characterized by nail-biting finishes, as Chris McGee and Dave Frascona tied for 1st place with a Net score of -8. A scorecard playoff was used to determine the winner and Chris McGee won by one stroke.  Tom Hyslip came in 3rd with Net -7, and Dale Fandel and Mark Kershaw tied for 4th place with Net -6.

The Tega Cay Golf Club Men’s Club Championships 2023 was a true testament to the spirit, resilience, and skill of the golfing community.
