Tega Cay, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – Tega Cay natives, Jacqueline and Lauren Kirby have released their first book, DJ the Scratchy Cat under their pen name JL Kirby.
Jacqueline and Lauren were raised in Tega Cay, SC, and their family still resides here. As young girls Jacqueline would write and illustrate books to read to Lauren and both became avid writers. So it is no surprise they decided to write a book together. Jacqueline now lives in New Jersey and runs a marketing company with her husband, and Lauren is a third grade teacher at Fort Mill Elementary.
During the pandemic, JL Kirby was born when the sisters decided to write their first book together, DJ the Scratchy Cat. Lauren said “the book is based on events of our family adopting our cat, DJ.” Jacqueline adopted DJ in 2009 the day after the Yankees won the World Series and named him DJ, after Derek Jeter.
DJ the Scratchy Cat is the story of a beloved family feline. He’s mischievous, naughty, and full of attitude-exactly the way you want your cat to be.
Come hear the story of DJ the Scratchy Cat on August 11th at 11:00am at Knowledge Perk, 900 Crossroads Plaza, Fort Mill, SC where Lauren and Jacqueline will read DJ the Scratchy Cat. They will also be signing copies of the book and taking pictures with fans.
The sisters are currently in the process of publishing their second book. So maybe we will get a glimpse into the next adventure of DJ the Scratchy Cat.
