Clover, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – Dr. Kelly Clark, an English teacher at Clover High School, has been honored as the 2023 Clover School District (CSD) Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made during the district’s annual Convocation, which marks the start of the new school year. Dr. Clark went through an application and interview process last spring to secure the recognition.
In acknowledgment of her outstanding teaching, Dr. Clark will have the privilege of using an automobile from Fred Caldwell Chevrolet during the following year. In her application, she shared that her family played a significant role in inspiring her to become an educator, with her grandmother, father, and mother all having connections to education.
With a career spanning back to 1997, Dr. Clark has taught in five different public middle and high schools across North and South Carolina. She also served as an assistant principal for two years. Her dedication to education extended to Gardner-Webb University, where she held various positions, including Director of Innovative Undergraduate Curriculum, Director of Undergraduate Studies, Chair of Middle Grades Education, and Assistant Professor in the School of Education.
Dr. Clark holds impressive academic qualifications, including a bachelor of science degree in English Education from East Carolina University, a master of science degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner-Webb University, and a doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Gardner-Webb.
