York County Sheriff Announces Promotions

York County, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – Sheriff Kevin Tolson announced the following promotions, transfers and retirements.

PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS:

  • Jamelia Smith has been promoted to Lieutenant Watch Commander in the Detention Division.
  • Cristos Kakouras has been promoted to Lieutenant Watch Commander in the Detention Division.
  • Sgt. Amber Clark has transferred to Detention Classification Sergeant.
  • Brooklyn Melton has been selected to be a Detective in the Special Victims Unit.
  • Matthew Barker has been selected to be a Detective in the Property Crimes Unit.
  • Grady Putnam has been selected to be an Investigator in the Forensics Services Unit.
  • Brandy Werner has transferred to the Warrants Unit.
  • Chelsea Jordan has transferred to the SRO Unit West Division.
  • Scott Lowder has been promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal.
  • Liam Brandon has been promoted to the rank of Senior Deputy.
  • Chloe Wormsley has been promoted to the rank of Deputy II.
  • Casey Eagan has been promoted to Lead Booking Officer.
  • Ashlee Herring has been promoted to Assigned Booking Officer.
  • Adam Buchanan has been selected as Transport Officer.
  • Eric Seaford has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Artarsha Stinson has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Zachary Fuller has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Letrell Campbell has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • McKayla Adams has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Dominique Marshall has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Sarah Scott has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Amber Smith has been promoted to Detention Officer I.
  • Kendle Pitts transferred from the Detention Division to the Enforcement Division as a Deputy.
  • Karen Isaac has advanced to the position of Records Management Clerk II.

RETIREMENTS:

  • Watch Commander Khatari McMillan has retired from the York County Sheriff’s Office, Detention Division.
  • Corporal and School Resource Officer Daniel Hoberg has retired from the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
