Good Samaritan Injured While Attempting to Thwart Armed Robbery at Circle K

Rock Hill, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – According to the Rock Hill Police Department, a man was injured while trying to thwart an armed robbery at a Circle K convenience store on Cherry Road. The incident occurred early on Friday when the victim, Dalton Wheeler, noticed a suspicious individual attempting to rob the store.

Dalton Wheeler took action and confronted the suspect, identified as 18-year-old Richard Stayberg, who was at the register demanding money from the cashier. During their struggle, Wheeler managed to tackle the alleged thief to the ground but unfortunately sustained gunshot wounds to his hand and buttocks as they grappled over the firearm.

After the altercation, Stayberg fled the scene but was later apprehended by officers in the vicinity. He is facing multiple charges, including armed robbery, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
