Fort Mill, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – Twelve new Tesla superchargers are being installed at 1504 Carolina Pl, Fort Mill, SC 29708, in the parking lot of Empire Pizza. Currently, the two closets locations are at the Comfort Inn, 3725 Avenue of the Carolinas Fort Mill , SC and at Toringdon Market, 3429 Toringdon Way, Charlotte, NC near Ballantyne.
New Location in green, off exit 85, I-77 and SC160.
According to Tesla, “Superchargers can add up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes. Since charging above 80 percent is rarely necessary, stops are typically short and convenient.” While this is great for Tesla owners in the area or travelling thru, the superchargers are not just for Tesla. In February, Tesla, in collaboration with the White House, revealed plans to permit all electric vehicle users to access over 7,500 of its approximately 17,000 US chargers by integrating CCS connectors compatible with most non-Tesla cars. This initiative positions Tesla to be eligible for around $5 billion in federal grants designated for public charging facilities.
As of October 2023, Ford and General Motors have announced their vehicles will be able to access Tesla superchargers starting in 2024 using an adapter, while new vehicles starting in 2025 will come with built-in Tesla-compatible inlets.
