The York County library board will experience a modification as a result of a recent council vote. On Monday night, the council decided to decrease the number of board members from ten to seven.
There is speculation among certain residents that this decision is in response to an unsuccessful attempt to relocate specific books from the children’s section to the adult section in public libraries across York County. However, some council members have asserted that the intention behind this change is related to redistricting rather than any form of book censorship.
Furthermore, some council members have argued that their responsibilities do not extend to being actively involved in library affairs.
