After more than two decades of distinguished service as President and CEO of Founders Federal Credit Union, Bruce Brumfield has announced his retirement, effective December 31, 2025. This decision marks the culmination of a multi-year leadership transition plan developed by Brumfield in collaboration with the Board of Directors to ensure the continued success of the credit union.
Brumfield’s journey with Founders began in 1988, during which he served in various management roles before assuming the position of President and CEO in 2003. Under his leadership, Founders experienced remarkable growth, expanding from $944 million in assets in 2003 to over $4.7 billion today. The credit union now boasts 850 employees, serving 273,000 members across 44 offices in two states.
Known for his visionary leadership and commitment to innovation, Brumfield attributes the success of Founders to a steadfast focus on member service. “Doing the right things for the right reasons pays off,” Brumfield often says.
Leadership Transition Plan
As part of the transition, Keith Wilson has been named President, effective January 1, 2025. Brumfield will continue to serve as Chief Executive Officer until his retirement at the end of 2025, ensuring a smooth transfer of leadership.
Wilson, a 25-year veteran of Founders, was appointed Executive Vice President three years ago to work closely with Brumfield in preparation for this role. Reflecting on Wilson’s readiness, Brumfield stated, “Keith has a proven track record of management, integrity, and commitment to member-focused growth. I am confident he has what it takes to lead this credit union when I retire.”
Roy Hunt, Chairman of the Board of Directors, expressed gratitude for Brumfield’s contributions. “We owe so much to Bruce for his leadership and where he has taken this credit union,” Hunt said. “Having his knowledge and experience available during this transition will make it as seamless as possible.”
