Two North Carolina men face multiple animal cruelty and dogfighting charges following a joint law enforcement operation that resulted in the rescue of 40 dogs in upstate South Carolina.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested Dennis Ray Williams, 69, and Samuel Garen Mobley, 49, on Aug. 13. Both men are charged with two counts each of criminal conspiracy, ill treatment of animals, and animal fighting or baiting.
The arrests stem from a collaborative investigation involving SLED, the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Williams and Mobley were booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center following their arrests. The 7th Circuit Solicitor’s Office will handle the prosecution of the case.
