Tega Cay Baptist Church announced a Founder’s Day party on August 2 at 10:45 a.m., honoring the Church’s history and over four decades of worship.
The church invites current and former members, partners, neighbors, and friends of the church to celebrate during service at 1875 Gold Hill Road in Tega Cay.
“Rooted & Reaching: From an office lobby to 40 years of kingdom and community impact,” is the celebration’s theme, reflecting both the church’s early years and continued commitment to serving its community, the church said in a press release.
Under the York Baptist Association, Tega Cay Baptist Church began as a mission church in 1985, spearheaded by Reverend Ned Duncan, Missions Committee director at the association.
Through a collaboration with Reverend Johnny Rumbough and his wife, Valerie Rumbough, Tega Cay Baptist Church held its first service on Sunday, Aug. 25, 1985, nearly 41 years ago.
Rumbough will attend the Founder’s Day celebration as a special guest, the church said.
“This milestone gives us an opportunity to look back with gratitude and look forward with renewed commitment,” said Dr. Stephen Cutchins, transitional senior pastor at the church.
“For more than four decades, God has used Tega Cay Baptist Church to share the gospel, disciple believers, serve families and strengthen this community. We are grateful for everyone who has prayed, served, sacrificed and given faithfully so this ministry could continue for generations.”
