Prep Sports Today: Fort Mill Girls Lacrosse Compete for Championship; Baseball Faces Nation Ford; Today’s Calendar

Fort Mill High School’s baseball team is set to face off against rival Nation Ford tonight in a highly anticipated conference matchup. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Nation Ford High School.

The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets enter the contest with a 17-5 record, while the Nation Ford Falcons stand at 11-12. This game marks a key region contest for both squads as they look to solidify their standings heading into the later part of the season.

In other Fort Mill sports action today:

  • The varsity softball team will travel to Rock Hill for a conference game against the Bearcats at 7 p.m. Fort Mill holds a 5-9 record, while Rock Hill is 4-14.
  • The girls varsity lacrosse team are at T.L. Hanna for the Upper State Championship. Game time is at 6:30 p.m. Fort Mill enters the playoffs with an 8-7 record, while T.L. Hanna boasts a perfect 16-0 record.

Across town, Catawba Ridge High School also has a busy sports schedule:

  • The varsity softball team will travel to Florence to take on South Florence in a non-conference game at 6 p.m. Catawba Ridge is undefeated at 20-0, while South Florence is 17-6.
  • The varsity boys’ soccer team will host Northwestern in a conference match at 7 p.m. Catawba Ridge holds a 12-3 record, and Northwestern is 1-15.
  • The varsity baseball team will host Clover in a conference game at 7 p.m. The Copperheads are 15-7-1, while Clover is 14-8.
