Tega Cay Named Best Place to Live in South Carolina and Charlotte Metro Area

TEGA CAY, S.C. — Tega Cay has been named the No. 1 best place to live in South Carolina and the Charlotte metropolitan area in Niche’s 2025 rankings. The city also earned top honors in several other categories, including best place to raise a family in South Carolina, best public schools in the state, best suburb to live in South Carolina, and best suburb to raise a family.

The rankings, released annually by Niche, evaluate communities across the United States based on a combination of data and resident reviews. Categories include public schools, housing, crime and safety, family-friendliness, and access to amenities.

Tega Cay’s consistent top rankings reflect its strong public school system, low crime rates, and high quality of life. Located along Lake Wylie in York County, the city has become a popular destination for families and professionals seeking a suburban lifestyle with close proximity to Charlotte.

Fort Mill, also in York County, earned high marks as well. It ranked as the No. 3 best place to live in South Carolina and No. 12 in the Charlotte metro area. Fort Mill was also named the second-best place to raise a family in South Carolina and the No. 2 best suburb in the state for families.
