Lady Falcons Soar into Second Round with Dominant Second Quarter, Post Season Updates

The Nation Ford Lady Falcons are heading to the second round of the 5A Division II playoffs after a resounding 58-38 victory over the Eastside Eagles. A dominant second quarter, where the Falcons exploded for 28 points, proved to be the difference-maker in the contest. This win marks the first time Nation Ford has advanced to the second round since the 2018-19 season, a testament to the team’s growth and determination.

The game started slowly for both teams, with early nerves and missed opportunities. The Falcons found their rhythm and built a 7-0 lead. Eastside fought back, closing the gap and even taking a small lead at the end of the first quarter. However, Nation Ford held a commanding 39-20 lead at halftime. With the start of the second half, Nation Ford’s defense remained stout and forced the Eagles into turnovers and hurried shots. Though Eastside rebounded in the fourth quarter, Nation Ford maintained their composure for the win.

Ariah Heard led all scorers with an impressive 25 points. Mia Kurowski also reached double figures with 11 points, and Kayla Wilmore added 10. The Falcons (13-14) now face a tough Greenwood Eagles team on the road this Thursday.
