A Heartbreaking Loss for Fort Mill Schools

Tragedy struck in February when Stanley Brucker, a 61-year-old crossing guard for Fort Mill’s elementary and middle schools, was fatally struck by a vehicle during afternoon dismissal. Despite immediate medical attention, Brucker succumbed to his injuries. Celebrating Athletic Excellence

Fort Mill High School’s sports teams had a standout year, with both triumphs and challenges. The girls’ lacrosse team, despite a valiant effort, fell short in the state 5A championship, losing 13-4 to Chapin High School. Their journey to the finals, however, showcased remarkable determination, including an overtime victory in the Upper State championship.

Meanwhile, the boys’ soccer team brought home the state 5A title after a dramatic match against Stratford High School. Following a 2-2 tie in regulation and a two-hour weather delay, the Yellow Jackets prevailed with a 3-0 victory in penalty kicks, capping off a memorable season.

The girls’ and boys’ cross-country teams won the 5A state championships, and the girls’ swim team won their 3rd consecutive state title.
