Congratulations are in order for three local high school bands who delivered stellar performances in recent competitions.
The Catawba Ridge High School Band took home the top honors as Grand Champions at the Olde English Festival of Bands in Rock Hill. Competing against 19 other bands on Saturday, Catawba Ridge impressed the judges with exceptional performances, winning in the categories of high music performance, high visual performance, high effect performance, and securing first place in Class 5A. Advancing to the finals as one of the top eight bands, the Copperheads continued their dominance by winning first place in each caption, ultimately being crowned Grand Champions of the event.
At the 2024 Bands of America (BOA) Mid-Atlantic Championship, held at the University of Delaware, the Fort Mill High School Band had an impressive showing, placing 1st in Class 3A and finishing 3rd overall. The band also earned special recognition for Best Music Performance and Best General Effect in their class.
The Nation Ford High School Band also excelled at the Olde English Festival of Bands in Rock Hill, competing in Class 4A. In preliminary competition, Nation Ford claimed victories in High Visual, High Music, and High Effect categories, and went on to win Class 4A. They continued to the finals, where they finished in 2nd place overall against the top eight bands.
