In an effort to ensure safe and secure environments for district athletic events and activities, the Fort Mill School District utilizes a clear bag policy as recommended by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Clear bags are easily searched and significantly reduce faulty bag searches which enhances safety inside district facilities and speeds up the security screening process.
Students, staff members, volunteers and visitors are allowed one large clear bag plus one small “clutch” bag per person. The large clear bag must be no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”and made of clear material such as plastic, vinyl, or PVS with no pattern or tint; small
emblems or logos no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” and are subject to search.
Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to:
● Purses – larger than a 4.5” x 6.5” clutch bag
● Camera cases
● Backpacks
● Briefcases
● Patterned or tinted plastic bags
● Diaper bags
● Mesh bags
● Tote bags
● Duffle bags
● Reusable grocery totes
● Cinch or drawstring bags
Exceptions to the clear bag policy will be made to those with proper media credentials and those with medically necessary items after proper inspection. Infant formula, milk, or medications needing refrigeration are allowed in a small soft sided cooler but are subject to be searched before entering district facilities.
