5/25/24 – Tega Cay, SC
Dear Editor,
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us at the Inaugural Best Dam Food Festival. Despite the looming threat of unsettled weather, we were grateful to successfully host the event. The week leading up to the festival posed challenges due to the unpredictable weather, causing uncertainties in our planning process.
After consulting with local Meteorologist Keith Monday from Channel 9 and staying updated on the fluctuating weather conditions and potential severe storms, our team faced difficult decisions. We provided participants with the option to cancel, and following thorough discussions with Gold Hill Middle School, Band Directors prioritized safety by relocating the concert to the school, removed the dining tents, and adjusted the amusement offerings.
We chose to simplify the festival by eliminating all non-food components and retained food vendors who could quickly vacate the park if needed and revised the festival hours to run from noon to 6 pm.
A huge thank you to the Tega Cay Sun for creating a fantastic special edition just for the Festival! Filled with a map, a band’s story, and all the magic of the festival.
Special gratitude to Laurabree Monday and Keith Monday for handling weather updates and warmly welcoming the bands. I want to express my sincere thanks to the Veterans Association and Cynthia Striegel for delivering a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem at the opening ceremony. Volunteers Toni McIntyre, Robert Braun, Sage Nguyen, and Kristine Lekich were always ready to assist throughout the day.
A special shoutout to Macaluso Golf Carts for generously providing their stylish golf carts for transporting our team members and entertainment during the festival.
Super Chix and Tega Cay Tavern truly went the extra mile by treating our performers to delicious meals and a much-needed relaxing break.
Huge thanks to Sun Belt Rentals for providing fans to dry the area swiftly while Site 1 generously supplied straw bales for attendees to sit and enjoy the festivities.
I would like to thank our headline sponsors for their continued support throughout the events in our city – Rock Hill Coca Cola Company, Piedmont Medical Center, Dicks Sporting Goods and Pucker Butt Pepper Company.
A big shoutout to the awesome Tega Cay Residents and Businesses for backing Tega Cay Events! Up next on the agenda – brace yourselves for the sizzling Summer Concerts to beat the heat and have a blast!
