Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association Par 3 Tournament Recap

The Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association held its Par 3 Tournament on May 10th, and by all accounts, it was a resounding success. The tournament featured a unique format, with all 18 holes of the course set up as par 3s, providing a challenging and exciting day for the participants.

Tournament Format

The tournament was played in a 2-man Shamble format. Here’s a quick rundown of the rules:

Both players on each team hit a tee shot.
The team selected the best of the two tee shots.
From the selected tee shot location, both players played their own ball into the hole.
The team’s score for each hole was the total of the two individual scores.
Each team had to use at least two tee shots from each player per side (a total of four per player for the round).
There were no on-course handicaps due to the Shamble format. Handicaps were used to determine the blind draw pairings.
The maximum score on any hole was double par (6).
All scores were gross scores (no net scores).

Tournament Highlights

The Tega Cay course was reported to be in excellent condition, with challenging hole setups that led to some impressive scoring. The tournament was well-organized, thanks to the efforts of the Tega Cay Pro staff, including Ty, Suzy, and Eric, along with board members John Van Vranken, Bob Auman, and Steve Menchinger. The event was a testament to the strong Tega Cay Men’s Golf Association and the support of its members.
