FORT MILL, S.C. — Nation Ford High School junior Mason Bucciero has been selected to participate in the prestigious 2025 Disney Dreamers Academy at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
Bucciero joins 100 high school students from across the nation for the five-day program, which began this week. The academy provides students with immersive workshops and seminars led by business leaders, educators, and celebrities, all designed to inspire and cultivate their career aspirations.
Bucciero’s selection highlights his commitment to community service and his resilience in the face of personal tragedy. In 2012, at the age of four, Bucciero lost his younger brother, Carter, to an inoperable brain tumor. This experience deeply impacted Bucciero, leading him to become actively involved with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
He has since dedicated himself to raising funds for St. Jude, speaking at hospital events, and participating in their leadership society. Bucciero’s application to the Disney Dreamers Academy was inspired by the similarities he saw between the program and his experiences with St. Jude’s leadership initiatives.
In his application essay, Bucciero shared his profound connection to his late brother, his unwavering dedication to St. Jude, and his ambition to leverage professional sports as a platform to amplify his fundraising efforts for the hospital.
Bucciero expressed his enthusiasm for the Disney Dreamers Academy, stating he hopes to gain valuable insights and skills to help him realize his dream of making a significant impact on St. Jude through sports-related fundraising.
