A heartwarming farewell party was recently held at the Moss Justice Center in York, celebrating Judge Lynne Benfield, the esteemed York-Bethesda Magistrate Judge. The event was a testament to her long and distinguished career.
In recognition of her exceptional service spanning many years, Judge Benfield was presented with the prestigious Order of the Palmetto, alongside an award from the office of US Congressman Ralph Norman. Moreover, her colleagues at the Moss Justice Center, where she dedicated her time, expressed their heartfelt appreciation and admiration for her contributions.
Judge Benfield’s journey began at the young age of 22 when she joined the Clerk of Courts office in York County. Throughout her tenure, she progressively rose to the esteemed position of chief magistrate, ultimately retiring as the respected Magistrate for York-Bethesda.
Reaching the age of 72, Judge Benfield is obliged to retire in accordance with state law. However, her impact on the community is undeniable, and she has garnered immense respect from countless individuals for her unwavering commitment to public service from behind the bench.
