Shooting Death Under Investigation at Indian Land Apartment Complex

Indian Land, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Lancaster County Multijurisdictional Violent Crime Task Force are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Thursday morning at the Parkstone at Indian Land apartment complex.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on June 12, 2025, Lancaster County Public Safety Communications received multiple reports of gunfire in the area of 2272 Parkstone Drive. Responding deputies located a deceased 26-year-old Black male in the apartment complex parking lot. Authorities say the victim appeared to have suffered a single gunshot wound. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy will be conducted.

According to the sheriff’s office, no other injuries have been reported. A pickup truck in the parking lot was found to have been struck by gunfire.

Deputies, investigators, and crime scene agents remained on site Thursday morning, canvassing the area, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence. The scene has been secured, and investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety in the area.

“This is still an active scene, and we will be working in the area a good while longer,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “Although we have already developed important information about the victim, we have not identified a suspect or suspects. I hope anyone out and about when this shooting occurred who saw or heard anything will call us with that information.”

The sheriff’s office is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 803-283-3388 (Option 4), or submit a tip anonymously at www.p3tips.com/983 or via the P3Tips mobile app.
