FORT MILL, S.C. — Fort Mill High School is celebrating an extraordinary athletic year with the announcement of Coach Whitaker as the 2024–2025 Coach of the Year—a well-deserved honor after guiding three teams to state championships.
Coach Whitaker’s leadership this season led to state titles in Girls Cross Country, Boys Cross Country, and Girls Track & Field, marking one of the most successful athletic years in school history. His ability to foster team unity, develop elite athletes, and maintain a championship mindset across seasons and disciplines made him a standout not just at Fort Mill, but across the state.
“This has been a dream year,” said Coach Whitaker. “I’m incredibly proud of our athletes—their dedication, perseverance, and heart. These championships are a reflection of their relentless effort and belief in each other.”
The Yellow Jackets’ dominance began in the fall, with both the girls and boys cross country teams powering through the competition to secure back-to-back state titles. In the spring, the momentum continued as the girls’ track and field team brought home another state championship, showcasing strength across sprints, distance events, and relays.
Beyond the trophies, Whitaker is widely respected for his mentorship and the positive culture he’s built within the Fort Mill athletic community. His commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and student development both on and off the field has left a lasting impact.
Congratulations to Coach Whitaker and all the student-athletes on an unforgettable season!
