Indian Land Edges Catawba Ridge in Playoff Thriller

Indian Land High School (26-5) weathered a late-game surge from Catawba Ridge (21-8-1) to secure a 4-2 victory in a tense 2025 SCHSL Baseball Playoff matchup. After a pitchers’ duel kept the game scoreless for three frames, Indian Land broke the deadlock in the top of the fourth, taking a 1-0 lead. Catawba Ridge responded in the bottom half, capitalizing on a dropped fly ball to tie the game at 1-1, but left the go-ahead run stranded.

The Warriors regained the lead in the sixth inning, pushing across two runs aided by two Catawba Ridge errors, extending their advantage to 3-1. Indian Land added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, pushing the score to 4-1. Despite the deficit, Catawba Ridge mounted a valiant comeback attempt in their final at-bat.

In the bottom of the seventh, Catawba Ridge cut the lead to 4-2 on a sacrifice fly. With the tying run on base and only one out, Indian Land’s pitching and defense held firm, recording two crucial outs to stifle the Copperheads’ rally and close out the hard-fought playoff contest.
