Fort Mill Girls Lacrosse Clinches Undefeated Region Title, Baseball Falls to Indian Land, Softball Beats Chester

FORT MILL, S.C. – The Fort Mill High School girls lacrosse team secured an undefeated Region 3-5A record with a dominant victory Wednesday night, highlighting a busy evening for Yellow Jackets athletics that also saw the softball team win and the baseball team suffer a narrow defeat.

The girls lacrosse team hosted rival Nation Ford High School, pulling away after a competitive start to win 16-4. Fort Mill held the lead throughout the first half, but Nation Ford kept the score close initially. The Yellowjackets scored quick goals late in the first half to take a 6-2 lead into the break and continued to extend their advantage in the second half.

With the victory, Fort Mill finishes the regular season undefeated in Region 3-5A play and stands at 7-7 overall. The Falcons concluded their regular season at 2-13 overall and 1-4 in the region.

In softball action, Fort Mill defeated Chester High School 11-2 in a non-region contest. The win marks a two-game winning streak for the Yellowjackets, improving their overall record to 5-9. The team holds a 3-6 record in Region 3-5A play.

On the baseball diamond, Fort Mill hosted Indian Land High School in a critical region matchup. Senior outfielders Carter Blankinship and Jacob Pettit both notched their 100th career hits on outfield singles, but the Yellowjackets ultimately fell short in a 2-1 loss.

The loss drops Fort Mill to 14-4 overall and 10-4 in Region 3-5A. The victory gives Indian Land a one-game lead over Fort Mill for the top spot in the region standings. The two teams will conclude their three-game series Friday night at Indian Land.

Fort Mill’s Natalie Razum rounds third in Wednesday night’s home game against Chester. Fort Mill won the game 11-2.
