Fort Mill Blasts Clover 11-3, Secures Series Win

FORT MILL, S.C. — Fort Mill’s bats came alive Wednesday night, powering the Yellow Jackets to an 11-3 victory over Clover and securing the series win in Region 3-5A baseball action.

The Yellow Jackets (6-2, 3-2 Region 3-5A) jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning. Clover (5-4, 3-2 Region 3-5A) responded with a run in the second, but their offense remained quiet until the fifth inning.

Fort Mill exploded for five runs in the fifth, extending their lead to 10-3. Clover added two runs in the top of the 5th, but that was all the offense they could manage. Fort Mill added one more run in the bottom of the sixth to seal the victory.

Fort Mill outfielder Jacob Pettit led the offensive charge, hitting three home runs and driving in six runs. Alex Carreiro earned the win on the mound, with John Risk coming in for relief.

The Yellow Jackets won game one of the series 4-2. The teams will conclude the three-game series at Clover on Friday night, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
