Eastside Eagles Stage Dramatic Overtime Comeback, Defeat Nation Ford 10-9

FORT MILL, SC – In a breathtaking display of resilience, the Eastside Eagles women’s lacrosse team completed a stunning comeback, defeating the Nation Ford Falcons 10-9 in overtime Friday night.

The game started with Nation Ford seizing early momentum. Canaan Ross opened the scoring, followed quickly by Caitlyn Stolarek, putting the Falcons up 2-0. Eastside responded, scoring twice to tie the game, before taking a 3-2 lead. Nation Ford’s Ava Mayes tied the game at 3-3, ending a fast-paced first quarter.

Nation Ford dominated the second quarter, with Mayes scoring her second goal of the night, followed by Ross’s second and third goals, the latter assisted by Stolarek, pushing the Falcons to a 6-3 halftime lead. Despite the onslaught, Eastside’s goalie made crucial saves, keeping the Eagles within striking distance.

Eastside was ignited coming out of halftime, scoring three quick goals to tie the game at 6-6. Nation Ford recaptured the lead with a goal from Mays and another from Stolarek, who made it 8-6 with 4:08 remaining in the third quarter. The Eagles failed to capitalize on a man-up situation, and the third quarter ended with the Falcons holding an 8-6 advantage.

Nation Ford’s Caitlyn Stolarek had a hat trick in the team’s overtime loss Friday night to Eastside High School.

Stolarek completed her hat trick, making it 9-6 early in the fourth quarter. However, Eastside refused to yield. Scoring twice in quick succession, the Eagles narrowed the gap to 9-8 with 2:47 remaining. A dramatic fast break by Eastside resulted in a tying goal with just 57 seconds left on the clock, sending the game into overtime.

In a nail-biting overtime period, Eastside secured the winning goal, completing their remarkable comeback and securing a 10-9 victory.

The 0-5 Falcons will look to rebound Tuesday night at White Knoll.

Prep Update

Nation Ford’s varsity baseball completed the three game series against Northwestern with a 5-8 loss.

Nation Ford’s varsity softball team is in the Lady Rebel Invitational this weekend. They opened up today’s games with a 2-3 loss to Byrnes and an 8-4 win over Palmetto.,
