Founders Federal Credit Union Joins Tega Cay Sun as New Advertising Sponsor

Tega Cay, S.C. – The Tega Cay Sun is excited to announce Founders Federal Credit Union as their newest advertising sponsor, further strengthening Founders’ long-standing commitment to supporting local communities.

Founded in 1950, Founders Federal Credit Union began as a small financial cooperative created by Springs Mills employees to protect their colleagues from predatory lenders. Originally known as Springmaid Credit Union, it grew steadily, providing affordable savings and loan options to families in the tri-county area. Now, more than 70 years later, Founders continues its mission of financial empowerment, serving over 273,000 members across 44 locations in two states and managing $4.7 billion in assets.

The Tega Cay Sun, founded by Thomas Hyslip in June 2023, was established to deliver free, hyper-local news coverage often overlooked by larger media outlets. Initially launched as an online publication, the paper expanded to print circulation in October 2023, with a free monthly edition available at various locations throughout Tega Cay.

“We’re ecstatic to welcome Founders Federal Credit Union to our growing portfolio of advertising partners,” co-editor Patrick Byrne said. “Advertising partnerships are incredibly important for us to meet our stated mission to provide free, local news to our community,” co-editor Thomas Hyslip added.

With advertising partners like Founders Federal Credit Union, the Tega Cay Sun will continue to deliver quality, community-driven journalism, ensuring that local news remains accessible to all.
