Wegmans Secures Land for First Charlotte Store in Ballantyne

Wegmans Food Markets Inc., a renowned family-owned grocer based in Rochester, New York, has officially acquired 14.32 acres in Ballantyne for its first store in the Charlotte market. Mecklenburg County property records reveal that Wegmans purchased two parcels from NP BCP Land and NW Offices on Six, entities affiliated with developer Northwood Investors, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The acquisition cost totaled nearly $15.8 million.

Plans for the site include a 110,000-square-foot Wegmans store, which will be located along North Community Road on the east side of Ballantyne. The grocer has announced a targeted opening date in the third quarter of 2026.

This development marks a significant milestone for Wegmans as it expands its footprint into the Charlotte region, promising to bring its signature combination of high-quality products, prepared foods, and customer service to local residents.
