Columbia, SC — USC’s Robby Ashford did not disappoint when he stepped up Saturday night to handle the quarterback duties for an injured LaNorris Sanders. Ashford threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third in the Gamecock’s run away victor over the Akron Zips at Williams-Brice Stadium. He totalled 157 rushing yards on 16 carries. The Gamecocks took a quick 22-0 lead before the Zips scored their lone touchdown near the end of the first half. USC added another 28 points in the second half before the game ended with the Gamecocks up 50-7. USC is off this weekend in preparation for an SEC matchup at home against top 10 ranked Ole Miss.
