Yellow Jackets bitten in home loss to Copperheads

Fort Mill, SC — Catawba Ridge walked away with a 30-0 win over Fort Mill to open up Region 3-5A play for both teams. With Fort Mill winning the toss and deferring to the second half, Catawba Ridge executed an unflappable opening drive for a touchdown. Between penalties and Catawba Ridge’s defense, Fort Mill wasn’t able to move the ball much on this drive or the rest of the night. Their first three drives of the night all ended with punts or a turn over on downs. Down 10-0 in the second quarter, Fort Mill’s defense put up an impressive goal line stand at the one yard line. This forced a Copperhead field goal and the half ended 13-0.

The second half started with Fort Mill on offense. Between penalties and an impressive Catawba Ridge defense, Fort Mill wasn’t able to move the ball and had to punt. It was 20-0 midway through the third quarter after an impressive Copperhead drive. Catawba Ridge would tack on another touchdown and field goal before taking a knee as the clock wound down on their final drive of the night.

With the loss Fort Mill falls to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in region play. Catawba Ridge continues their winning streak and find themselves at 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in region play. Both teams continue Region 3-5A play next Friday — the Copperheads host Northwestern and the Yellow Jackets are at Clover.
