Fort Mill High School’s cross country teams delivered outstanding performances at the Trojan Invitational, held Saturday morning at Northwestern High School in Rock Hill. The Yellow Jackets swept both the boys’ and girls’ varsity races, showcasing their depth and talent against a competitive field.
In the girls’ race, Fort Mill secured the top spot with 36 points, led by Alivia Cleveland, who blazed through the course to finish first with a time of 18:50. Cleveland set the pace from the outset and maintained a commanding lead, finishing 18 seconds ahead of her nearest competitor, Avery Griffith of Mauldin. The Yellow Jackets demonstrated their strength as a team, placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 15, with four finishing in the top 10. Kaylee Rovenstine followed Cleveland with a fifth-place finish in 19:28, while Mia Zook (8th, 19:59), Ella Demmerle (9th, 20:03), and Avery Moriarty (13th, 20:16) completed the scoring.
In the boys’ race, the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets were just as formidable, winning with 43 points. Connor Demmerle led the team with a second-place overall finish, completing the race in 16:05. The boys’ team demonstrated their depth, with all five scoring runners finishing in the top 17. Isaac Campbell (4th, 16:24), Hudson Haley (6th, 16:34), Finn Leckrone (16th, 17:03), and Owen Ware (17th, 17:07).
