United Way of York County is thrilled to announce it has hired former CN2 News Director / Anchor, Laurabree Monday, to lead its communications efforts. She will be the Marketing & Communication Director, spearheading community outreach and engagement efforts. Additionally, she will have responsibility for planning and directing all aspects of media and public relations, communications, event management and marketing strategies, all in support of the organization’s overall strategic direction and community impact priorities. This position serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and counsel to the President and key volunteers.
Rebecca Melton, who leads the United Way of York County, shared, “Laurabree brings a wealth of knowledge and passion about those in our community. Her heart is one of serving and we are excited to have her be a part of our team in helping families in York County on the path to becoming financially stable.”
Previously, the Emmy Award Winning Journalist was with Comporium Communications. She was the CN2 News Director/Anchor for 16 years and has strong ties to the area. She is excited to be able to continue to give back to a community she loves. Monday says, “I was looking for the right opportunity and this position with the United Way of YC will allow me to continue to support important work in a community I love.”
Laurabree is a longtime member and Past President of the RTDNAC (Radio, Television, Digital News Association of the Carolinas) Board. She is also an Advisory Board member for York Technical College’s Teleproduction Technology Department. She is a graduate of both Leadership York and Lancaster Counties.
Prior to her work with CN2 News, Laurabree was a Reporter / Anchor / Producer for television stations throughout Texas and West Virginia. Laurabree began her career working in radio in NYC.
She is originally from New Jersey and graduated from Indiana University with a double major in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. Her husband Keith is a Meteorologist for WSOC-TV in Charlotte. They have two wonderful children and they call Fort Mill home. Her first day with the United Way of York County will be August 9, 2024.
