South Carolina Voter Registration Deadlines for June 11 Primaries

South Carolina residents who plan to participate in the June 11 primaries and have not yet registered to vote should be aware of the upcoming registration deadlines. Here are the details:

  1. In-Person Registration:
    • Deadline: Friday, May 10.
    • Locations: Individuals can submit their applications at any county election office, Department of Motor Vehicles branch, or local offices of state agencies providing government assistance (such as the Department of Social Services).
  2. Online Registration:
    • Deadline: Midnight on Sunday, May 12.
    • Requirements: Online registration requires a state driver’s license or an ID issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles.
  3. Mail-In Registration:
    • Deadline: Monday, May 13 (postmarked by this date).
    • Process: Residents can register by mailing in a completed registration form.

Party Affiliation and Primary Participation:

  • South Carolina voters do not register by party affiliation.
  • Voters can participate in any one primary of their choice.
  • However, they must stick to one party for the primary and any subsequent runoffs. For instance, a voter participating in the Democratic primary cannot vote in the Republican primary runoff, and vice versa.

Early Voting:

  • Early voting will be available from Tuesday, May 28, through Friday, June 7.
  • Each county will have at least one early voting site open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Polling Day (June 11):

  • Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Remember to exercise your right to vote and participate in shaping your community’s future!
