It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Heide Marx Spitz, who departed this world on February 3, 2024. Heide was a beacon of light, whose radiant warmth brought comfort to all who knew her. Her bright, warm smile had the ability to uplift everyone around her.
Born on December 18, 1944, in Ludwigsburg Germany to parents Ericka and Rudy Marx, who preceded her in death. Heide’s father was a well known music writer and accordion player for the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra based in Munich and the Ludwigsburg Symphony for over 50 years. Heide was raised with a strong sense of perseverance and determination. These qualities were evident when in 1969, Heide left her birthplace of Ludwigsburg Germany, to establish a new life in Laurinburg, North Carolina.
In her new home, Heide faced and overcame numerous obstacles, including learning a new language and raising three children in a foreign land. Despite these challenges, Heide’s determination and strength never faltered. She quickly adapted to her new surroundings and built a successful and respected career as a Realtor for over 30 years in the Tega Cay, Fort Mill, South Carolina area.
Heide was not only successful in her professional life but also made significant contributions to her community. She was an esteemed member the York County Realtors Association and served as the President of the Anchorage Homeowner’s Association. Her dedication and commitment to serving her community were highly admired.
Away from her professional life, Heide had a great appreciation for the arts and derived immense pleasure from Opera and Symphony performances. Heide’s favorite sport was Tennis, which she enthusiastically played whenever she got the opportunity in her younger years. Heide was also an expert ice skater and snow skied throughout Europe and the United States.
She is survived by her three sons; Robert Thames (wife Tracy), Carsten Thames, Johnny Thames, grandson Richard Thames, and her brother Wolfgang Marx (wife Crystal). They, alongside her many friends and acquaintances, will cherish her memory.
There will be a Celebration of life for Heide Spitz, on February 18, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Glennon Center at the Tega Cay Golf and Conference Center. The community is invited to join in commemorating her life and remembering the remarkable woman that she was.
In closing, Heide Spitz was an exceptional woman, who touched the lives of many. Her story of strength, perseverance, and success will remain an inspiration to all. She will be greatly missed.
