Barbara Ruth Watts, 78, of Tega Cay, SC, joined her loving husband and soulmate in Heaven, Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born January 14, 1946, in Camden, NJ, daughter of the late Alfred Gardner and Emma Barbiers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Watts and grandson, Tristan Cynowa.
Compassionate, patient and altruistic describe her soul. People were drawn to her laughter and her spirit. She relished time spent entertaining family and friends, always cooking food for an army. Philanthropy and education were of high importance. You could find Barbara reading, learning, continuing her search for knowledge in whatever way she could. She spent all her hours giving to the community by volunteering with many organizations including Tega Cay Lion’s Club, The Good Life Club, Tega Cay Fire Department, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the list goes on. Her house was filled with gifts for everyone, she was always giving.
With a heart of gold, Barbara poured out love to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She adored her grandchildren and loved spoiling them. They were the apple of her eye.
When her hands weren’t busy elsewhere you could find her tending her garden. Barbara loved spending time in her garden. It brought her peace. She tended her garden in the same way she tended to her community. With great care, love, respect and nurturing. She built up her beautiful garden in the same way she built up her community.
Barbara had a long career as a Realtor in the Carolinas. Prior to moving south, she spent many of her years in upstate New York. After graduating from Elmira College, she thrived in the advertising world. She relocated with her family to SC in 1980. Barbara leaves a lasting legacy to be cherished by her survivors, sons, Michael August, Richard August and Michael Watts; daughters, Megan Cynowa and husband, Rob Cynowa and Kelly Hawley and husband, Brett Hawley; grandchildren, Leila August, Hunter Watts, Coleton Hawley, Carson Hawley, Jade Cynowa and River Cynowa; sister, Judy Wiley and husband, Bill Wiley; and a host of extended family and friends.
