As the holiday season winds down, York County residents are reminded the county provides a free disposal service for spruces, firs, and pines at any of the 16 recycling centers until late January.
Before dropping off, ensure trees are free from ornaments and lights, as they will be transformed into mulch. Operating hours for all Collection & Recycling Centers are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.
However, due to recent facility closures and an influx of holiday waste, York County announced on December 29th significant delays at its Landfill and Collection & Recycling Centers. Residents may experience limitations or temporary closures in services until the situation improves. Those looking to recycle their trees are encouraged to check the status of their nearest center and plan accordingly.
