Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson Will Visit Winthrop Tonight

Rock Hill, SC (Tega Cay Sun) – Presidential Candidate Marianne Williamson will visit Winthrop University on December 4th for a campaign event as part of her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. The event is open to the public and will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dina’s Place, located in the DiGiorgio Campus Center.

Williamson previously visited Winthrop in October 2019, where she was accompanied by a well-known singer and a radio personality to discuss mental health awareness. She withdrew from the presidential race in early 2020, before the caucus and primary elections commenced.

As a candidate, she is motivated by the challenges faced by young college graduates struggling to afford a living. Raised in a socially conscious household in Texas, she has a background as a best-selling author and describes herself as a teacher of transformational wisdom, a successful entrepreneur, and a political activist. Her political experience includes an independent campaign for a congressional district in California in 2014.

This visit marks the fifth presidential candidate to come to Winthrop during the 2024 campaign season.

Parking for the event will be available behind Margaret Nance and Johnson Halls, as well as in the Founders Lot on Alumni Drive.
